TREND: Natural Timber Finish19 February, 2014
Woodbender spotted many new and exciting trends whilst exhibiting at IMM Cologne and visiting Maison and Objet in January 2014. A trend that stood out and was seen on the majority of furniture was that of a natural timber finish. Wooden furniture was left raw to show off the natural timber grain and colours. The flame in the wood creates a texture and interest that ensures each item is unique.
Woodbender manufactures all furniture from solid Ash timber, imported from North America. The manufacturing process of bending solid timber restricts the type of timber that can be used. It has been found that the Ash has brilliant bending properties and is therefore Woodbender’s timber of choice.
A benefit of the Ash is that the timber is naturally very blonde and can take up a stain finish very well. Woodbender has ten standard timber finishes, one of which is Natural Ash. This finish consists simply of a layer of lacquer straight onto the timber. This finish is set to be a favourite among cutting edge designers in keeping with the hot European trend of a natural timber finish.
